Peter Callesen

This artist's work has recently been doing the email rounds. I was sent links to his work and I've seen him mentioned on other websites. You can see why he garners such attention: Peter Callesen creates very impressive, large and small scale, intricate paper constructions. See more of his wonderful work here: www.petercallesen.com

Tara McPherson

NY based artist Tara McPherson has a new show starting shortly at the Johnathan Levine Gallery in Chelsea, NYC, later this month. Click more info for the press release and pic. I'm a big fan of her work, she's produced some amazing posters for bands too. Check out her website for more of her fantastic work: www.taramcpherson.com

Chris bought me this giclee print of hers called 'Sometimes I Just Want a Hug' for my 30th birthday last year and it now hangs in our living room, what a great present!

Homemade gifts and musical treats

I finished this bag the other day as a birthday present for my brother's girlfriend Ellie. I've been putting my sewing machine christmas present to good use and made this tote bag with a lightning bolt stitched in yellow on the front. I also put in a handy inside pocket. Quite pleased with the outcome, hope she'll like it. Ellie and my brother Kris are super talented musicians in a band called Deluka. They've had a fair amount of success in the UK so far with BBC Radio 1 airplay and a live session on radio BBC 6. They've just completed an album to be released in Japan this year and are off to the super cool South by South West music festival in Austin, Texas early next month. They're also playing in London next week on the 22nd at the Bar Music Hall in Shoreditch. To check out their toe-tapping electro tuneage visit their myspace page - www.myspace.com/deluka

Chocolatey Delights

In my opinion Valentine's day is another excuse by card retailers, tat pedlars and the sugar industry to extort money from people in the gap between Christmas and Easter. But, I did use it as an excuse to make some tooth-rottingly good vegan treats! I made some chocolate covered 'honeycomb' the sort found in a Cadbury's Crunchie bar. Click more info for how to make...

Phlegm Comic

The next exhibition I've arranged for Spine Skate Shop & Gallery is a show of work by Phlegm Comic. Phlegm is the pseudonym chosen by an artist from Sheffield which covers all his artwork and the comic/zine he produces every four to six months. The comic serves as a portfolio of his work for that period of time and covers his intricate illustrative work and his colourful outside work covering walls and occasionally small aircraft.
