The self titled ‘Kev Grey’ is the first book dedicated to the artwork of this British artist. It showcases a selection of Kev’s hand drawn illustrations, the majority of which featured are his original black ink drawings which were initially produced to be shown in exhibitions such as his solo shows Rockin’ Bones, Everlasting Arms and Swallow This! (which all took place within the U.K.) and the group shows Bestial (Barcelona) and Lost & Found (Australia), to name a few.
Also in the book we see a selection of commercial work including commissions for the Download Festival in 2005, The Cure’s Porl Thompson’s signature guitar manufactured by Schecter Guitars, Skateboard artwork for Liverpool’s now defunct East Skateboards and record covers including the 7” sleeve design for hardcore band Walk the Plank. We also see examples of his drawings being used as poster, T-shirt and tattoo designs, his graffiti and commissioned murals, plus the bulk of fanzines self-published by Kev between 2000-2006.

A brief history of the 30 year old artist is that he started making fanzines of his drawings and comic strips in 1994 with the intention of becoming a comic book artist, started writing graffiti in 1995, gave up on pursuing a career as a comic artist in 1999, which was also the year he started copying tattoo flash by tattoo artists such as Bert Grimm, Owen Jenson, Leonard ‘Stoney’ St. Clair and Sailor Jerry Collins and fused that with his comic book influences, which ranged from the psychedelic underground comix from the 1960’s, horror comics from the 1950’s - 1980’s, and the independent British comic artists from the 1990’s.

Kev Grey will be available to buy at www.kevgrey.com from February 2009 and will also be available in selected bookshops.
