Birthday Pigeons

Last sunday was my birthday and as it was such a lovely sunny, Spring day, we decided to get a coffee and take a walk down to the river Severn in Worcester and feed the pigeons, swans, ducks and gulls that congregate there. I have quite a soft spot for pigeons, and there were some pretty friendly ones there that day, so we took turns taking photos of them pecking at the bread we held out for them. I was super stoked on some of these! Click continue reading to see the rest...

Andrew Jeffrey Wright ripped off?

A US clothings brand delia's appears to have blatantly and shamelessly ripped off a painting by Andrew Jeffrey Wright, and turned it into a dress design.

Unfortunately this kind of happens regularly. The Urban Counterfeiters blog has documented a few cases from the last few years: CLICK HERE to read.

Knitted Tea Cosies

I've been looking round for a classic, old 'granny' style knitted tea cosy for ages, and couldn't find anything second hand, so I decided to try and knit one. I had to have some help to get started and decipher the pattern, as I have only done the odd bit of knitting and have never followed a pattern or knitted an actual 'thing' before. I really enjoyed it and was pretty pleased with the results. Click 'continue reading' to see the pattern, which I've translated in the places that I needed help with.

Birthday Bird

It was a special birthday for Chris on Monday (*whispers* 40!) and I wanted to get him something special and memorable, so opted for a one-off found metal bird sculpture by US welder turned artist Joe Pogan. Chris was really pleased with it, which was great. I love the cutlery ends used for the wings and the different things you can spot on his body such as US air force and navy buttons. Joe also has a myspace page HERE and a Flickr page HERE. On his flickr photostream, this sculpture is number 946.
