Lost/Found childhood book

I'd been searching for a long lost childhood book with no joy, on and off for a few years. Finally, after nearly giving up I managed to get hold of a copy. All I knew was that it was a character called Gully, who was a humanised dog who lived with his family and had a friend called 'Pet', and in one book he made some biscuits. It had been one of my favourite books as a child.

There is practically no mention of these books on the whole of the internet and at the time I didn't know author names or the proper title. Happily, thanks to Amazon's New and Used I eventually found Gully's Biscuits by Gwen Marsh and Jan Brychta and was reunited with my old pal Gully. Even though I hadn't seen this book for close to 30 years, it was really familiar and there were details I could remember vividly. It's also spooky how much this book had subconsciously influenced my own doodling styles. My sketchbook is full of silly, sketchy drawings of humanised dogs (as well as other animals), often with hats that could easily be one of the 'Baskerville Hounds'! Quite amazing really how much I was taking in when having these books read to me. Click 'continue reading' below to see more pages from the book.

Renegade Craft Fair Brooklyn

The Renegade Craft Fair hit Brooklyn, NY this weekend in McCarren Park. As usual I am nowhere near this excellent event, but handily my brother Kris is currently recording his album in Brooklyn with/for his band Deluka; attended the fair and sent me some great images this morning of all the goings-on and fantastic artwork on offer. The Renegade Craft Fair is on all day today (7th June) as well so if you are local to it I'd highly recommend not missing it. A full list of the attending artists can be found HERE, and the website also has details of the Fair's other dates and locations (SF, LA etc). Click continue reading below for the rest of the photos.

Vintage & Craft Fair

I'm involved with a local group called WAVE - Worcester Arts and Vintage Events and helping to organise the first Worcester Vintage & Craft Fair which is taking place on Friday 24th July at St Helen's Church in Worcester.

The event, which was started in order to get some cool events happening in sleepy Worcester, supports local artists and crafters making handmade work with a vintage, recycled, or reused theme, as well as local vintage retailers. Lots of great artists have already got on board and will be having stalls at the event.

I'm also having a stall with some bags I've made using vintage bamboo handles and vintage patterned pillowcases. I'll also be selling handmade items from my friends Greg and Jo and some new lino printed cards by Chris.

The event has a blog with more photos of work by other stall holders HERE.

Really looking forward to this, it's just what Worcester needs but have still loads to do to make more items for my stall as well as help promote it, eek!
