Chris Bourke album artwork for Frank Turner

My other half Chris was asked by folk/punk/whatever-you-wanna-call-it musician Frank Turner to design the cover for his new album which is out tomorrow (Monday 7th September). Earlier in the year Frank emailed Chris some demos and we met up with him before a gig in Birmingham so they could discuss the themes and ideas in the album and Chris could get to work.

Chris made two lino prints especially for the album called 'Poetry of the Deed', one for the front and one for the back of the album. After a long wait, it was great to finally get a copy of the album the other day, just ahead of its official release.

Chris's work was great fit with Frank's songs as they both share very similar ideals, subject matter and influences: one of Chris's favourite bands is Bad Brains (whose lyrics have inspired his prints) and one of the first few tracks we heard of Frank's was a cover he had done of a Bad Brains track.

The cover artwork was repeated on the actual CD, and we thought it was also nice touch to have printed the artwork on a poster folded into the packaging:

Another lino cut 'We Are What We Believe' artwork on the back of the CD:
