Died Young Stayed Pretty

I was sent an email about the documentary film Died Young Stayed Pretty, which is an 'unique documentary that explores the thriving underground network of music gig poster artists in the USA, getting up close and personal with different artists and their styles who have been involved in the high and low profile promotion of the likes of Sonic Youth and Radiohead among dozens more' - which sounds good to me!

The film is showing at London's ICA

It's the directorial debut of Eileen Yaghoobian and she gave a Q & A on Friday 9th October so I wish I'd have posted this earlier - sorry!

There is also a special poster art retrospective show happening to coincide with the film showing.

Coming up in November they have 'Calling Out of Context' which is a nine day festival of experimental music and sound which sounds pretty interesting!

You can see the trailer for Died Young Stayed Pretty, read all the info and book tickets to see it on the ICA's website HERE

Art by Tattooists

It's been just over a month since my latest book Art by Tattooists: Beyond Flash has been published and early indications are that it has been selling really well so I'm really chuffed! I made the mistake of reading some reviews of the book on Amazon.com and while there were very positive on the whole, there were a couple that didn't seem to get what I was trying to do, or didn't understand the term 'Flash' as much as they thought they did, and saying the title is misleading as there is Flash in the book. Therefore I recently updated my website with a fuller explanation of Flash (Flash is a tattoo design drawn up for the purposes of tattooing onto people multiple times) and why there is definitely no 'Flash' in the book. Click 'Continue Reading' below for the full explanation and some photos of the book.
