Brussels update!

brussels1.jpg

Plenty of good things are going on in Brussels (Belgium) for the christmas period - there's not only an exhibition of graffiti godfather Sozyone Gonzalez running at Alice Gallery, but at the same time, Parisian collective "Arrache-toi un œil" ("Tear your eye out") are showing at Plin Tub', who also present their second "Zeke Bazaar" magazine...

SOZYONE GONZALEZ: "LE GRISBI"
"Grisbi" means "money" or "loot" in French slang and for his newest show, Sozyone Gonzalez once again inspired himself by the romantic image of the gentleman thief. Each artwork features the logo of a mysterious brotherhood and all of them together form an imaginative universe filled with anti-heroes, individualists and polite crooks, depicted with style. The thing with Sozyone is, the guy never stops reinventing himself. It's amazing. His style is clear, his characters recognizable but the way he puts them on paper, walls or canvas is everchanging. Keep it up, hermano!

Exhibition running until 19/01/2008 at A.L.I.C.E. Gallery and shop, 182 rue Antoine Dansaertstraat, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. Open from Tuesday until Saturday, 11h30 until 19h.

ARRACHE-TOI UN OEIL
Parisian collective "Arrache-toi un œil" has been organizing concerts since 2002. The non-profit organisation has always been recruiting artists to design their flyers, resulting in loads of interesting artworks by many different people in all kinds of styles and formats, with a meticulous attention for detail. Discovering silkscreen printing along the way and a common passion for drawing have since given their posters and album covers an obvious personal touch, rendering their style even more interesting as a whole. Definitely worth visiting if you're into underground design!
