It is a fact that I've adored Bfree's colourful stickers ever since I first lay eyes upon them. His funny characters literally brighten up your day, smiling at you, urging you to follow them along on their path to ultimate bliss. Now, Bfree's first book was just published and with the 111 black and white drawings - a selection from 5 years of work - the artist shows another side of him, still cheerful, but also dark. Definitely worth taking a deeper look...

The boys and girls over at 85 Gallery in Antwerp, Belgium have just started a new project. They took a few cans of paint, hauled all the wood (chairs, tables, closets, whatever) they could find on the streets inside their space and asked a bunch of friends to give them some merchandise to sell. Our discovery of the week is James Gallagher. The whole Modart staff agrees: this guy has "it", whatever that "it" may be. Old photograph clippings, combined with yellowed book pages in clever compostions just can't go wrong. So if you're around Berlin these days, check out his work at / pool gallery, and if you're not keep an ear out if you ever hear his name drop.
