New book by Gusto

The "Design and Designer" booklet series by French publisher Pyramyd (the same group that also publishes France's renowned graphic design magazine "étapes:") has a new baby since last week: Bordeaux-based art couple GUsto (Garcia-Usine studio) put together 120 pages of very varied pages with their unique works...

Fanny Garcia and Jack Usine have been working together as freelance designers since 2005, when they graduated art school. Next to making commissions in Bordeaux, France, they also do loads of free work, including typograpy (www.smeltery.net), video (www.levilain.org) and organizing events and exhibitions with their art collective Sainte-Machine (www.sainte-machine.com). Among their great projects, we can count the "Soupirs" font, made out of 310 patterns that they selected out of a collection of 1489 "soupirs" (holes in cellar screens in the street) they found in their city. Also very noteworthy, the big red "Bordel" (French for "mess" and slang for "Bordeaux") sign in the typical "Hollywood" font they placed on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, that lasted for 21 hours. Other than that, their collaborations on exhibitions with many friends (Bobaxx, Havec, Shlag, Guillaumit, Mr Kern, Specio) are always original and interesting, see previous posts here!

Discover all of this and many more of their fresh designs for local bars, museums and live street action in the little square book that contains loads of ideas we wish we would've had first.
