I recently came across this video that was released by Faith 47 as part of her project The Restless Debt of Third World Beauty. For years she has been leaving some amazing marks on the South African landscape and this video does a beautiful job at showing what she does best.
After the huge success of last year's Difusor Stencil Festival in Barcelona they decided it was time to set up a permanent, and constantly evolving, gallery space on the streets of the city. This Saturday July 5th there will be a large handeful of local and foreign artists painting and enjoying the sunny weather. Yeah, it's almost always sunny here in Barcelona... read on for the details of the event and some pics of older works at the "gallery".
El Tono has a unique way of viewing, interpreting, and then rebuilding the world. Geometric forms line up (almost) perfectly, pieces are removed, replaced, rebuilt, deconstructed, color-changed, taped off, stenciled out, superimposed, and it all seems to makes perfect sense and no sense at all. You can check out a show of his newest work this coming Tuesday July 8 at the Rojo Artspace in Barcelona.
Islands Fold is an independent publishing company and artist residency on Pender Island B.C. in Canada, created and operated by Angela Conley and Luke Ramsey. The 3 guys with the cleanest lines and most recognizable characters in the game, The London Police, Pez, and Flying Fortress, always seem to make noise and attract a lot of positive attention wherever they go (and they've gone to a LOT of places). They'll be back in Pez's hometown, Barcelona, this Saturday night for part 2 of a new tour they're exhibiting together in the respective birthplaces of their characters and beyond.

Travelling artist Labrona is up in Croatia, Romania, Albania and Bulgaria right now, but that didn't prevent him from launching this limited edition deck with Homegrown right before he left for international adventure, as part of the company's guest artist series. Check out this awesome short movie by Mathieu Labaye. It's a great animation in different beautiful chapters, so make sure to watch all of it! If you don't have much time, from minute 05:00 on everything's twisted all around and that's definitely jaw-dropping material. The film's narrative is a tribute to the author's father, who suffered from multiple sclerosis and spent his days in a wheelchair until his passing away in 2006... Truly stunning piece where the action of daily movement is researched and documented.
Master of disaster and of just about every artistic medium known to man, Wayne Horse, decided the time for the future was now. In the great do-it-yourself way he gets everything done he made himself a pair of rocket cars and went for a joy ride (around a parking lot). Relax, enjoy the video and the music, and then take your own joy ride to his website to see just how insanely versatile and talented this kid is. www.waynehorse.com

Whereas many cities in the recent past have enjoyed buffing over the large murals and creations of sometimes less-than-legal artistic efforts (ehem, Barcelona?) Amsterdam seems to have embraced it. This triumphant video shows the creative process behind a massive mural created by Zedz, Lordh, Morcky, The Boghe, Wayne Horse and The London Police in the center of Amsterdam. Enjoy and take this as a nice reminder to think big.
Marchante was started as an initiative by Elaboratorio Gallery in Mexico City to continually change the face of the central market in their not-so-quaint neighborhood, La Condesa. They've teamed up international artists with local bad-asses to do the redecorating, in this video we can see documentation of Sam Flores and Saner rocking out and doing a great job. Read on for more about Marchante and Elaboratorio.
JR's work has left massive impacts on those who inhabit the cities and other places that his photographs have also chosen to take up residency; from the Tate in London, to riot-torn streets in Paris, and of course the Palestinian Wall. For his latest project he went to Spain to celebrate and bring to a larger-than-life scale the portraits of the residents of the of the Spanish Mediterranean port city of Cartagena.

The Ramblas in Barcelona is famous for its Living Statues, people dressed up on the street pretending to be inanimate objects until an unsuspecting tourist comes by and usually gets the crap scared out of them. Mark Jenkins came through Barcelona few weeks ago and flipped it up a bit, putting an actual sculpture on the Ramblas pretending to be a living person. It attracted a crowd and seemed to put people a bit on edge.
