Following up on the 501secure CCTV camera in the last issue of Modart (designed by kennmunk.org), the Modart crew is in Berlin to help celebrate Local Heroes and the relaunch of the Levi’s flagship store. Since generally we prefer to leave the flags burning behind us, we brought the pirate Danny Sangra with us. He didn’t bring his patch or pipe, but has been keeping the staff and customers entertained by taking his flames to the windows, and giving a new dimension to the standing ad campaign.

Sabotaz USA has been up to a lot over summer. We missed posting about her last show with Sighne at Open Space but won't make the same mistake again. Gaetane Michaux has made a name for herself with her intricate puzzles and collages based on her interactions and friends within the street art community. This October 10 her newest productions will be unleashed alongside the works of a few other photographers upon a very expecting Brooklyn crowd at the newly opened Factory Fresh Gallery.
Brasil has been massively inspiring artistically for years now, but most of us have been focusing on its street art, graffiti, and pixacao scenes. Some months ago I was shown by my friend Ethos a whole different group of Brasilian artists/craftsmen who have been working outside the limits of the law for decades now. The Baloeiros have taken the ancient craft of small paper hot air balloons to a level you can't believe, and in the process have had their craft outlawed due to the enormous fires they can and have caused when things go wrong. After the jump you can see a documentary made (only in Portuguese) nearly 20 years ago about the Baloeiros movement.

Last Saturday the much awaited Fame Festival, organized by Studio Cromie, opened to the public in an old ceramics factory and on the streets of Grottaglie, Italy. This small town in the south of Italy, famous for its rich ceramics history, was not immediately accepting of the idea of this huge exhibition with some of today's biggest names in the street art game. But once the quality of the work was proven to them art triumphed and the town joined together in this artistic celebration.
The evil geniuses behind Diesel and their viral marketing campaigns have got us, this one's too good to not post. This is what happens when people understand that porn really shouldn't be taken seriously.
