Red-Eye Fine Arts and Print Shop

redeye_ibieroyal.jpg
Ibie and Royal, partners in crime who have been hitting the streets of Barcelona for years now, have circumvented the system in a way we fully appreciate and have launched their own online portal for moving their prints and fine artwork directly to those who appreciate it most. Red-Eye Fine Arts and Print Shop is their initiative to put the control of selling their work back into their own hands, and soon will have a number of other artists added to the roster. Check their website and support these artists directly. www.red-eye.es

Pope Benedetto Locked Up in Stockholm

This piece was done a few months ago but just came to our attention. Big, technically well executed, sight-specific, and illegal; four things we love when seeing work on the streets.

El Mac at Fifty24SF

header_5024SF_ELMac_Flyer002%20copy.jpg
El Mac's work is subtle and soft yet mindblowing at the same time. Taking strong influence from classic art history figures and his own unique take on a renaissance/baroque style he's made serious waves with his spraypainted murals across the world, especially with his collaborations with Retna. This Thursday, August 6th El Mac will open his solo show at Fifty24SF entitled 'Faces of Life.' He sent over some images of his recent work and it's not to be missed. He and Retna also just released a new book, Alianza, with Upper Playground. We'll be posting a review of it soon.

Studies of Another Place or S.O.A.P.

You might recognize Jim Stoten's work from the numerous editorials he's worked with including The Guardian, Spin, Faesthetic, Arkitip, and plenty more. This Friday August 21st he will be opening his newest solo show, 'Studies of Another Place' or S.O.A.P. for short at Gallery Seven in London. The gallery stresses that their artists push themselves in creating unique pieces for the shows there, in Jim's case he began an exploration of collage in his work and the results look great.

East Eric Has Something to Say

l_6dbc2b74b97d4118974ee3a8ec00f741.jpg
East Eric's work is experimental, conceptual, and often gives an aggressive push to the line of acceptability and controversy. Among other things he straddles the border between art and vandalism, such as his monochromed redecoration of the train cabin above. His work is more than simply the final results however as he often builds his own tools to carry out his plots such as paint bombs (landmine looking objects stuffed with paint and firecrackers), enormous markers, an arsenal of fire extinguishers, bikes and other objects used as printing presses and more. He makes all of his tools himself and has recently released a series of high quality photographic prints of some of his outdoor experiments. Contact him on his website to support.

After opening the Modart show at Thinkspace Gallery in LA Nomad hit Vegas, and hit it BIG. With the assistance of none-other-than Ashton Kutcher and what appears to be a crash test dummy he painted this massive piece across the rooftop of Planet Hollywood. Lucky him. Guillaume Desmarets alongside his work and install

Modart celebrated the coming release of our first book at Thinkspace Gallery. Gallery in LA. Nomad and big G (Guillaume Desmerets) were on hand with very different installations, Mr. Jago launched a load of new work and some friendly celebrities came out to support the cause. The show featured 28 artists and was something of a mini museum. Many many thanks to the very cool Thinkspace crew, who were professional and a riot to pass time with.

Thanks to sourharvest.com for the pics!

Both Individually and as a duo Retna and El Mac have gained a lot of notoriety and respect over the years and this book serves as a great visual report of just what these two are capable of. Let's crack it open and see what's inside.
