72hoursgallery - Hamburg

36 hours to set up a whole exhibition and 36 hours running time. That's it!
Hamburg was the first stop and Kingdrips the first artists to paint, build and get mad in this time. Kai shot these videos during the whole time and uploaded them right away - it was nearly a live documentation on that day...

Faith47's video, which she showed in her latest solo show, 'Epitaph,' at the No New Enemies space in the Mr. Ego shop in Brussels. An abridged photo report is up on NNE's website now. Check it out here. And the above video (put together by Rowan Pybus) is the documentary of yet another beautifully tragic piece (as is so much of her work) that Faith realized in Cape Town.

Dreamyourtopia by Dadara - destroyed!

The Wall went up, The Wall went down ... dreams are free again after 48 hours of protest and some frustrated applicants. It was not only the line between dreams and reality that was destroyed, but also those dividing theatre and actuality. It wasn't always fun, but it was indeed one hell of an interesting time.

And make sure to check:

Uncut Destruction of Dreamyourtopia

We just found this uncut video of the destruction of the Dreamyourtopia checkpoint. Emotions and adrenaline ran high and came down with force in the form of sledgehammers, chainsaws, and even one urinating madman to douse it all.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Untitled%2003%2070x100cm%20.jpg
Friday the 13th will usher in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly at Gallery Nosco in London. This show is an interesting mix of talents, two who we're familiar with and one who we're not (which in and of itself we like): Alexandros Vasmoulakis, Dran, and Naomi Doran. Which is the good, the bad, or the ugly is up to you to decide, and why the show is only up for 10 days is anyone's guess.

The UK artist Copyright has just released a new print entitled 'Neptune' with Zero Cool Gallery in association with Surfers Against Sewage. They come in an edition of 100 at £50 each, and a percentage of the sales goes to suppport the surfers against sewage charity. You can check out more here.

The Street-Art-Exhibition-series ends with a big get-together

2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. A historical moment in German history, as well as for the cultural scene of the Street Art movement. On one hand, the Berlin Wall represents a salient symbol of the Cold War and the separation of Germany. On the other hand, it represents a creative areal of a peacefull revolution and the biggest open-air galery in the world The illustrator, musician and artist will only stay a couple of hours in his former home town Berlin on November 7th.

10 Days by Ripo

Ripo's brandnew video:
'10 Days' is a study of news headlines taken from the BBC News Online between May 6-15th, 2009.
Everyday the news is transmitted to us across the globe.

We're left saddened, scared, inspired, skeptical, hopeful, angry, or simply numb.

But the next day brings a new set of stories painting over the memories of yesterday's events.

Perfekt World at Inoperable

perfekt_email%20copy.jpg
In collaboration with the Vienna Art Week Inoperable Gallery will be opening up their newest show with the Perfekt World collective. The show, 'Modern Painting Commercial Art Post Graffiti,' is an ironic self reflection of the collective who met after a colleague was rescued from drowning in a pool. This isn't graffiti, this isn't street art, this might not even be art, but who's to say what is?

Wendell McShine

Wendell McShine just sent us this video where he discusses his work. Taking inspiration from his native Trinidad and his adopted-home of Mexico City it's amazing to see the details and variety of materials he uses in creating his world. He will be presenting new works at the 'Fresh Produce' group show opening at Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose, California next Friday, Dec. 4th.

Boys Will Be Boys II

P1140005.jpg
Stopping through Cologne this past week we got a chance to see Herr Schulze & Wayne Horse's new show, 'Boys WIll Be Boys 2' at the Arty Farty Gallery. The show is filled with some beautifully painted acrylics, ink drawings, watercolors and a few more bulgy objects (as in 3D, not flat) that hold nothing back. KKK, nazis, poop, sodomy, blood, an elephant's skull, red meat, and more ball and dick drawings than that kid from Superbad. You might think people would be grossed out, personally I couldn't look away. Here's some of what's to see...

For Big Mistakes

diana_2009_en9.jpg
Last year, Lady Di's Rubber (eraser for us yankee doodles), got snapped up at an Auction. It didn't go to some object or monarchy fetishist, but rather to our own Invisible Heroes ... once they had this mythical piece of gum, they used it to erase the princess and the prince, framing their traces and the remnants of red rubber. Are mistakes being wiped away or left to the open eye? The full installation will be on view next week in Miami ... and we'll post some images from the sunshine soon. They sent me a small video talking about the project, which you can watch here.
