The New York Street Advertising Takeover (or NYSAT for short) has just had all their court cases thrown out and have been allowed by their lawyers to launch their new site. This project is amazing and has shaken up a lot of (advertising and police) people and excited a lot of other (more creative) people as it's a very direct and visible action against the illegal advertising in NYC. You can read more about the project on their new website: www.publicadcampaign.com/nysat
Only five years late this video documents the epic 'Urban Edge' show that happened in Milan, Italy back in 2005. Blu, Bo130, Microbo, Shepard Fairey, The London Police, Jeremy Fish, Abner Preis, The Barnstormers, and so many more artists (and friends) who have all continued to do unbelievable things since then. A flashback that doesn't feel so far back.
Man of mysteray Alex Diamond will be presenting his newest solo show, 'Don't worry 'bout a thing 2: Demon Circus' at Iguapop Gallery this Thursdsay, Feb 4th.
Roa and Joska just teamed up for (we think) their first time to bring their duo-show, 'We Like Darkness,' to the Arty Farty Gallery in Cologne. The show will be up until March 13th so you have plenty of time to go and enjoy this unique collaboration.
Abner Preis will be telling his stories and spinning the heads of anyone who dares enter the Galerie Gabriel Rolt booth at Art Rotterdam. SpY from Madrid just released this beautifully shot video with a massive and pretty straight forward message, 'Lee' ('Read' in Spanish) . Not to diminish the piece in any way (it's great) but it is worth noting another New York-based artist/vandal who's pretty much dedicated his whole career to that same message.
Antisrot will be crashing down on San Francisco with their newest 'Solid Cold' show at The Shooting Gallery opening tomorrow, Saturday February 6th. Right next door to the "Never a Dull Moment" show at White Walls in fact, so take note if you're out that way. The collective have continued to grow and bring their work together in a very tight way, describing their inspiration as "docudrama." But you might simply recognize it as a mash up of pulp comics, media, fashion mags, porno mags, old films, and their own interpretations and remixes of all of the above.

Roa rocked his first solo show ever at Galerie Itinerrance in Paris. They were nice enough to send over pics from the opening and a lot of the work on display. It looks great, just what we would expect from this prolific artist. The show is up through February 28th so go see for yourself if you're in town.
Recently our friend and skateboarding legend Scott Bourne sent us news and a photo report from his latest exhibition at the Spacejunk Board Arts Center in Bayonne. On show were his analog photographs and his poems from his book, Eclipse. His photos all brush on the theme of darkness, reflecting the same darkness expressed in his poetry. He was on hand at the opening to read excerpts from his book and bring his own words to life in the ears of the public. This will be the first of four exhibitions he will be having at the Spacejunk Centers throughout France, with the next opening on March 18th in Bourg-St.-Maurice. Read on for photos from the opening as well as all the info you need to make sure you don't miss the next one.
We love letters. Obviously those organizing the Letterheads show in Melbourne do too. This show of 26 artists' interpretations of their selected letter of the English alphabet sounds like something we'll also love. No New Enemies member Mr. Jago will be showing in it as well as Anthony Lister, Greg (SP One) Lamarche, Usugrow & Bene, Kami, Sasu, Mark Bode, Craig (KR) Costello, Meggs, Ghostpatrol, Reka and 14 more artists that have brought their A-game. The show opens February 26th but they're already posting about the run up, including interviews with all the artists, on their blog starting now. Check out more for a few preview shots.
Red Bull is hosting an action-adventure sports photography contest with a fat prize pack of a Leica S2 camera and equipment and plenty of other photography equipment to the tune of €30k. Submissions have to be in before February 28th and there will be a few different categories the entries will be judged on. Anyone can enter and although we're kind of on the tail end of things if you have something around this could be a nice opportunity. Check out more at their website redbullillume.com.
Faith47 is outspoken with everything she does, and she continues to show it in the streets with no fear. This last enormous piece from her is a great example of that. Via here, photo nicked from here.

Check out the photo report here.
Lyle Owerko was recently named one of the winners of the 2009 Hasselblad Masters Award, a prestigious photograpy award. In honor of this the Clic Gallery in NYC will be hosting an encore exhibition of his photographs from The Samburu series. The show will open on March 2nd. These beautiful black and white photographs document and portray the Samburu people, a nomadic tribe living in Northern Kenya. Part of the proceeds from the sales will also go to the Thorn Tree Project, which supports education for Samburu children. We've selected a few of our favorite photographs from this series for your enjoyment. Read on.

Follow it all here: www.latinoamortour.com
Kenor & Gola's techniques for painting walls usually includes splashing everything within reach (and sometimes out of reach) with paint, including themselves, and the bit that happens to get on the wall is the final result. It's really more of an experience and a performance than the simple creation of an image. The two of them will be controlling themselves (a bit) with a two-man gallery show entitled 'Adventures Beyond the Ultra World,' in Barcelona opening this Friday February 19th.
Above was recently in Cuba, less than 90 miles from Haiti. He took the opportunity to paint a stencil for Cuba's nearby neighbor in need. As with all the artwork coming out now to support this country that has faced such devastation the most important thing is that it reminds us all to get involved! One fantastic group that has helped tremendously out there is Doctors Without Borders, find out more on their website.
The pioneer and master of photorealist spraypainting Andreas von Chrzanowski AKA CASE will be opening his newest solo show this Friday at Signal Gallery in London. Angelique Houtkamp will be presenting a three day pop-up show at Nelly Duff Gallery in London starting on March 4th. The show is entitled 'Bona Drag', Polari slang for nice outfit, and will feature only unseen works of hers including originals, little skull assemblage pieces, prints and her two books.
Alex Diamond's newest show 'Don't worry 'bout a thing 2: DEMON CIRCUS' just opened at Iguapop Gallery and we've got the video and photos to prove it. The show will run through March 6th.

One day after the earthquake in Haiti Ripo went out and painted this wall in Barcelona with the simple message 'Heart for Haiti.' Soon after he asked his friends at Zubmarino Prodz. for help with releasing a print to benefit an organization that has already done so much in Haiti and around the world, Medicos Sin Fronteras (Doctors Without Borders). Since the earthquake they've helped more than 28000 patients, performed nearly 3000 operations, and have more than 20 sites set up around the country. And since being founded in 1971 they've worked in nearly 60 continues to provide independent and impartial medical assistance for people who suffer from violence, neglect, or catastrophe. Read on for more details about the print.
