100624_JonBurgerman_inHH_IMG_1644.jpg
Jon Burgerman is back in Hamburg for his second solo show at heliumcowboy artspace. He's returned to the Lossy Botany Lab, a project he explored in NYC at the 2009 Scope Art Fair. Influenced by dada and fluxus, the laboratory explores lossy data through questionnaires, word association games, psychological profiling, and spacial awareness tests with the audience. The show is up now through August 6th.

Blu's "Big Bang Big Boom"

Obviously everyone is talking about this one and we love it too. Blu did it again, now with his evolutionary (in many ways) animation "Big Bang Big Boom." Incredible work.

El Mac & Retna on Skid Row

skid_row_final.jpg
Retna and El Mac just recently finished this powerful mural in the heart of LA's Skid Row. The project was their second collaboration with Estevan Oriol, who's photograph was the basis for El Mac's part of the wall. The mural is a tribute to the community members in Skid Row as well as the perseverance of the homeless who reside there. The image is amazing and the best part is the entire photo report on Retna's website, from start to finish. It's definitely worth checking out if you've ever enjoyed the amazing collaborations between these two artists. (sort of via Revok's blog)

East Eric: Back in Pink

dessusflaque.jpg
East Eric just sent us over some pics of his latest blast of paint. Here he flips up the concept of train painting by making the train go over the paint rather than the other way around. Read on for some more photos.

Zoe Strauss On the Beach

4776382912_93c69dc1f4_b.jpg
Zoe Strauss just took a heart-wrenching trip to the beach. This beach happened to be in Waveland, Mississippi and is of course entirely covered in crude oil. No New Enemies has posted Zoe's report up along with some more of her photographs. Sometimes it's a few photos and some honest words are what really begin to drive the reality of a situation like this home.

The exhibition will open this Thursday, July 15th, at Miscelanea gallery. We first discovered his work via an interview he did with Fecal Face some time back and we're definitely looking forward to seeing it in person.

Big Toys for Big Boys (and Girls)

lemmingday_front.png
This is pretty incredible. Lilo Krebernik, aka The Lemming, has created what might be the largest DIY toy mold in the world. The toy has been cast in conrete directly out of a specially designed skatebowl and now almost two years after they came up with the concept the first proper skate, paint, and bbq will go down to celebrate their achievement. If you're around Radstadt, Austria this Saturday, July 17th, it's sure to be a fun day.

Joshua Allen Harris' Inflatable Bag Monsters

Using only tape and garbage bags, Harris creates giant inflatable animals that become animated when fastened to a sidewalk grate. Steven Psyllos caught up with Harris recently to discuss his older works (including a bear and a giraffe) and unveil a new beast that looks not unlike the Cloverfield monster. Video by Jonah Green.

Some News from Ludo
